UGA Study: beetles could help save hemlocks

ATHENS — A new University of Georgia study examines how to fight the bug that has killed thousands of hemlock trees across the state. The study shows that the ladybird beetle was successful in stemming the spread of the woolly adelgid but the predator beetle must be released in the upper crown of trees where the pests are more abundant.
